Al Wahda Players Record a Negative Figure in Asia

Al Wahda players recorded a negative figure, according to a numerical statistic for the most prominent positive and negative figures in the group stage published by the Asian Football Confederation, on Thursday.

The UAE club’s players were the most violent during the group stage of the AFC Champions League in (West), which took place in late April.

Eight clubs from the West have managed to qualify for the AFC Champions League round of 16.

In contrast, 12 clubs bid farewell to the Asian Championship, after strong and exciting competition over the course of 6 rounds.

The UAE club recorded the most negative figure, nevertheless.

The statistic revealed that Al-Wahda players received 16 yellow cards out of 206 cards.

On the other hand, the statistic showed that 150 goals were scored in 60 matches during the group stage.

Iranian clubs Persepolis and Esteghlal were the highest-scoring clubs, with a total of 14 goals each.

Meanwhile, Michael Olunga, the striker of Al-Duhail club of Qatar, was the top scorer in the group stage. He scored a total of 9 goals.

The statistic showed the success of Iran’s Tractor Club in maintaining clean sheets throughout 5 matches.

The Iranian club has only conceded 3 goals during the six matches. This makes them the best defensive team.

In addition, the statistic showed the matches that witnessed a great number of goals.

Esteghlal beat Al-Ahly of Saudi Arabia with 5-2, while Al-Duhail beat Esteghlal with 4-3. These were the two highest-scoring matches in the group stage.

During the group stage, only two goals via a direct free kick hit the goal.

Santi Cazorla, Al-Sadd player, in the match against Al-Nasr, and Michael Olunga, Al Duhail player, against Al-Ahly scored the two free-kicks.

Furthermore, out of 21 penalties during the group stage, 18 goals were scored.

Cheick Diabaté scored 3 penalties and wasted one.

Meanwhile, Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah, Al-Nasr striker, scored 4 goals in the group stage this year.

Hamdallah, thus, raised his score to 15 goals in 18 matches with Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League since 2019.
