Argentina coach: Croatia is a difficult opponent and since the defeat of Saudi Arabia we take seriously

Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentina national team, confirmed that the players will do everything in their power to delight the fans, before the upcoming meeting with Croatia at nine tomorrow evening, Tuesday, at Lusail Stadium, within the semi-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Scaloni said, in the pre-match press conference, “We expect a difficult match against a really strong opponent, we should not think about the last match between us, we have to focus on a team that plays as a group, and that means that the match will be difficult.”

Speaking about Messi, Scaloni added: “I wasn’t surprised by his enthusiasm and strength because I know him, he is always criticized because he is a player who likes to win and that’s normal.”

The Argentina coach continued, “We have our own style and our way of playing, but we must take into account our opponent, we will not change our style and with the course of the match we will make the best decision to match our opponent, since our loss to Saudi Arabia we played every game seriously and with high strength, we know that Croatia will be a difficult match and sometimes in football the best team does not win.”

“We will do everything we can for Argentina to make the country happy, and despite the fatigue after facing the Netherlands, the best way to recover from fatigue is to win, Croatia is a strong and difficult team and its opponents always get tired,” Scaloni said.

Scaloni commented on the technique of calculating lost time in the World Cup, saying, “Extra added time poses problems for the victorious team, because it makes you feel uncomfortable after you progress, but this is something we will get used to in the coming matches.”

Speaking about Croatia captain Luka Modric, he continued: “What a great thing to see on the pitch, as a football lover you like to see great players like Modric and Lewandowski on the pitch and enjoy them.”
