Barcelona Offer 18 Players for Sale to Save the Club
Due to the stifling financial crisis that most clubs are experiencing as a result of the Coronavirus, Barcelona offer 18 players for sale, in compensation for the large losses.
The club is looking to reduce its debt amounting to 862 million pounds. In addition, players’ pay bill has increased after the addition of new items. Besides, more signings may take place in the current summer transfers.
After Joan Laporta took over FC Barcelona, he conducted an internal audit of the club’s finances. He wants to get rid of the senior players to help reduce debt and lower salaries.
Philippe Coutinho is the main candidate for sale. Meanwhile, Antoine Griezmann represents Barcelona’s best chance to get a large sum of money.
The Brazilian’s value is at around £50m, with Griezmann’s price up slightly.
According to press reports, the club will hold talks with high-paid players to reduce their salaries.
Reports say talks are targeting Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Clement Lenglet, along with Sergi Roberto. However, media outlets linked the latter with a move to Manchester City.
Memphis Depay will probably join the Spanish club on a free transfer, but with a very high salary.
Meanwhile, Barcelona lost the opportunity to sign Georginio Wijnaldum due to the intervention of Paris Saint-Germain.

Ousmane Dembele has not yet agreed to extend his contract. Thus, he will be offered to the clubs that want him if he does not sign the renewal.
Barcelona fears losing him free of charge next season when his contract expires. Therefore, the club will try to sell him and get 50 million euros this summer in case he does not want to renew.
Meanwhile, Sergino Dest, Gerard Pique, Ricky Puig, Francisco Trincao, and Emerson are all in danger.
Lionel Messi remains the priority at Barcelona. He is expected to extend his contract to stay at Camp Nou.
