Barcelona’s Trincao to English Premier League
Barcelona announced the departure of the Portuguese striker, Francisco Trincao, to Wolverhampton on a season loan for one season.
Nearly a year ago, Barcelona paid €31 million to Braga to add the 21-year-old player to the team.
Trincao has played 43 games throughout 2020/21 with the team.
He participated in only ten games, during which he scored three goals and contributed two assists.
He participated as a substitute in the two matches of the final-quarters against Paris Saint-Germain when Barcelona lost their chance to the Champions League competitions.
Trincao has played six international games with Portugal. However, he was not present in the UEFA European Championship in which the Portugal national team lost to Belgium and was eliminated from the quarter-finals.
He will play in Wolverhampton with a team full of Portuguese players.
He actually followed the steps of Nélson Semedo who moved from Barcelona to Wolves last year for €30 million.
This happened despite the departure of the Portuguese coach, Nuno Espírito Santo, to lead Tottenham from the beginning of the next season.
Barcelona explained that Wolverhampton will pay Trincao’s salary.
Barcelona has terminated the contract of the Brazilian midfielder, Matheus Fernandes, which was due to run until 2025.
