The European Football Association (UEFA) has set the date for the draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League for the 2021/2022 season, after the group stage stage ended on Wednesday evening, with the exception of one match, and 15 of the 16 qualifiers for the tournament were decided.

The draw will be held next Monday, December 13, at 1:00 pm, “Cairo” time, from the headquarters of the European Football Association (UEFA) in Nyon, Switzerland.

And 15 teams have already qualified for the round of 16, as they came as follows..

Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Ajax, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting Lisbon, Chelsea, Juventus, Salzburg, Lille, Benfica.

It is noteworthy that the draw for the round of 16 will not witness any confrontations between two teams from the same country, and will not witness any confrontations between two teams who have previously met in groups.

The round of 16 of the European Champions League will be held on February 15, 16, 22 and 23 (first-leg matches), and 8, 9, 15 and 16 March 2022 (return matches), all at 10:00 pm Cairo time.

UEFA had decided to abolish the away goals rule, and therefore if the two matches ended with a tie after 180 minutes, the two teams would move to extra time and if the tie continued, there would be penalty kicks to decide the qualifier’s ticket.
