Chelsea announced today, Saturday, the injury of its international player, Ben Chilwell, in the thigh muscle and his absence from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The England team, led by coach Gareth Southgate, coach of the Three Lions, received a blow by confirming the absence of Ben Chilwell from the 2022 World Cup officially.

Chelsea club published an official statement, through its website and account on Twitter, in which it confirmed that the injury will prevent the player from catching up with the World Cup.

Chelsea explained in its statement that the team’s left-back suffers from a major hamstring injury, which will make him unable to be present at the World Cup, and the statement indicated that Chilwell has now begun the rehabilitation process.

England plays in the World Cup in Group B with the teams of Iran, America and Wales.

The jinx haunts Chilwell, 25 years old, as he did not participate with his country in the World Cup or Euro before, and was satisfied with 17 international matches.
