Cristiano Ronaldo has already made clear Zinedine Zidane’s position amid Manchester United’s approach
There are some familiar faces for Zinedine Zidane if he really does move to Manchester United having already managed Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane during his time at Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo has already given his seal of approval to Zinedine Zidane amid reports that Manchester United are “close” to him to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Norwegian has been under tremendous pressure after a string of poor results for Manchester United.
Zidane is one of the main contenders to succeed him if he leaves Old Trafford with the ex-Real Madrid boss currently unemployed after leaving the Spanish capital this summer.
The Times alleges that the Red Devils contacted the Frenchman to try to persuade him to take up the task with Solskjaer’s position at stake.
There are some familiar faces for Zidane should he move to Manchester, having already led Ronaldo and Raphael Varane during his time at the Bernabeu.
Have your say! Is Manchester United waiting until the summer for Zidane?
United are hoping his previous relationship with the pair will help persuade Zidane to join United and he is also a candidate who has given Ronaldo his blessing as the Portugal star hailed his former coach after Real Madrid beat Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League final.
Ronaldo said:
“The confidence a player needs does not only come from himself but also from the players around him and the coach.”
He added:
“You have to feel that you are an important part of the group and Zidane made me feel special and he helped me a lot I really respected him a lot but working with him made me admire him even more and that’s because of what he is as a person, how he speaks, how he leads the team and how he treats me.”
Both Ronaldo and Zidane will leave Madrid that summer before the latter returns for a second term as he will add the La Liga title to his four Champions League titles won during his first spell.
It remains to be seen if Zidane is interested in taking on United, particularly in the middle of the season and allegedly not “desperate” to accept an offer from the Red Devils or any other club because taking on a job when the campaign is already underway is not the most attractive proposition.
Zidane would prefer to join a club in the summer where he has a pre-season with his new team, as well as a transfer window to put his own stamp on things and he also believes Zidane wants to see if a France job is available after the 2022 World Cup.
