Donnarumma Leaves Milan this summer

Donnarumma will officially leave Milan at the end of the current season, as announced by Paolo Maldini, the club’s technical director.

The club was unsuccessful in renewing Donnarumma’s contract as negotiations ended in deadlock.

Milan finished second in the Italian League this season with 79 points to ensure participation in the Champions League next season.

Maldini’s statements about the departure of Donnarumma

Maldini said in a statement to Calciomercato: “I think we should thank all the players who made this great season. Gianluigi Donnarumma was a champion, and he was often the captain as well.”

On the club’s position on Donnarumma, he said, “Sometimes people find it difficult to understand what being a professional means. Moving to other clubs is part of it.”

“Those who have done a lot must be respected, and Donnarumma has done so, and Milan should not worry. In this age, it is difficult to find jobs that start and end in one place,” he added.

In fact, Donnarumma’s contract with Milan ends this season. Thus, the Italian goalkeeper can sign any club for free.

In the last round of the league, Milan defeated Atalanta with two clean goals, to officially return to the Champions League.

The Rossoneri goals were scored by Frank Casey in the 42nd and 93rd minutes, with two penalties.

With this victory, Milan reached 79 points, to end the tournament in second place.

While Atalanta stuck at 78 points in third place.
