Egypt group in the Tokyo Olympics
About Egypt group in the Tokyo Olympics, Al-Ahly, and the Egyptian Olympic team player, Akram Tawfik, talked.
“There is no difference between the Pharaohs team and its competitors in the group at the Tokyo Olympics,” said Tawfik. The group includes Argentina, Spain, and Australia.
Tawfik is one of the main players in coach Shawky Gharib’s team.
Meanwhile, the player did not participate mainly with Al-Ahly under the leadership of Pitso Mosimane.
Akram Tawfik confirmed that the national team had previously faced Brazil. And that there is no significant difference between the three teams in the Egypt group.
He explained that the Egyptian national team is no less than its competitors. The difference is on the field; the match is between 11 players against 11.
Tawfik added, “Our goal is to reach the final and return to Egypt with an Olympic medal. But everyone should make every effort to express their capabilities and present a reputable image to the Olympic team in Tokyo.”
He continued, “The selections for the final squad for the national team are up to the coach. His view must be respected. The most important thing is that the players selected to participate in Tokyo are successful. All the players are focusing strongly on the current camp. Because every player has a dream of participating in the Olympics.”
He concluded, “Some players have ambitions to become professional. Others seek to return to their club again.”
After returning from the national team, Tawfiq is preparing with Al-Ahly to face Tunisia’s Esperance in the African Champions League semi-finals.
