FIFA opens an investigation into the events of the Argentina-Netherlands match in the World Cup

 

Spanish press reports revealed that the International Federation of Football “FIFA” opened an investigation against the Argentine Football Federation, for what happened last night in the quarter-final match of the 2022 World Cup against the Netherlands.

 

The Netherlands team bid farewell to the 2022 World Cup, after losing to Argentina on penalties 4-3, after the original and extra time ended in a 2-2 draw, in the match that brought them together on Friday evening at Lusail Stadium, in the second confrontation of the quarter-finals of the Qatar World Cup.

 

According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, FIFA decided to investigate Argentina because of what some players showed after the match.

 

 

The newspaper pointed out that FIFA decided to open an investigation on the events that happened to the Argentina match against the Netherlands, including the statements of Argentine star Lionel Messi and Martinez about the referee of the match, in addition to the shot Paredes and the celebration of the players of the Argentina national team.

 

She added that the quartet of the Argentine national team Lionel Messi, Emiliano Martinez, Nicolas Otamendi, Leandro Paredes are threatened with sanctions from FIFA, explaining that decisions are expected to be issued in the next few hours.

 

According to the Catalan newspaper, the fine may only be economic, and there could be penalties for players.
