Paris Saint-Germain coach Galtier announces his desire to leave Mauro Icardi

Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier confirmed that Argentine striker Mauro Icardi does not count, and that the club is working hard to bring in a new striker during the summer transfer market.

“I met with Icardi at the beginning of the week, and I told him that I wanted to reduce the team’s squad, and that I would not work with 25 players in training,” Galtier announced in a press conference before the match against Montpellier in the French League.

“The club is working to find the best possible solution,” Galtier said. “Icardi has had a few minutes in past seasons and I think he should restart his career.”

The Argentine international’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs until 2024.

Galtier confirmed that the club is working to bring in a new striker: “We cannot make mistakes, we will not contract with anyone, we must see what is possible and what is not possible,” stressing that the club is working “a lot” to complete this contract.

“I am in direct contact with Luis Campos (sports advisor) and Luis is in direct contact with our president,” Galtier said.

Galtier stressed: “Icardi has not lost everything, but I think it is best for him to change the atmosphere, and move to another club, to revive his professional career.”

“Obviously, I excluded Icardi from the list in the first match for technical reasons,” the French coach explained.

In a related context, press reports revealed Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in acquiring the services of Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United star, before the closure of the current summer transfer market.

According to the French newspaper, L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain aims to obtain the services of Rashford during the current summer Mercato to strengthen the team’s attack during the current season.

The newspaper added that the United star would like to join the Parisian club, as the latter began negotiations with Manchester United during the past few days to discuss the player’s inclusion.

And the newspaper pointed out that Manchester United does not want to give up on Rashford, and his message to Paris Saint-Germain that the player is not for sale.

The newspaper pointed out that Paris also hopes to end the deal of Inter Milan defender Skriniar or his replacement Samakan, and midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Naples.

And Paris Saint-Germain succeeded in this summer Mercato in signing Portuguese Venetia, French defender Nordi Mukele, young striker Hugo Eketek and Renato Sanchez.
