Good numbers for Solskjaer with Manchester United

Stunning statistics prove why Manchester United fans continue to support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as head coach.

They did not disappoint and United showed their muscles in the Premier League last Saturday by beating Leeds United 5-0.

Saturday’s clash marked the 10th time in 152 games that Solskjaer’s side have scored five or more goals in a competitive competition.

Between David Moyes and Jose Mourinho United played 320 competitive matches and United scored five or more goals only twice, both matches being played in Europe, one in the Europa League and one in the Champions League.

The first under Moyes’ leadership was a Champions League group stage match with Bayern Leverkusen in 2013 which United won 5-0.

The second occasion came three years later in a Europa League round 32 match against Denmark’s Midtjelland and what we remember most from the match is when the then little-known Marcus Rashford announced himself at the Theater of Dreams.

Solskjaer made his debut against his former club Cardiff City in late 2018 and his side continued to eschew the defensive playing style that continued under Mourinho.

Leeds’ result marks the 10th time United have scored five goals or more since Solskjaer’s appointment and is a constant reminder of the exemplary style of historic manager Alex Ferguson.
