Guardiola reveals why Haaland was excluded from facing Copenhagen
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has expressed his anger over Rodri’s goal against Copenhagen in the Champions League.
Man City fell into the trap of a negative tie against Copenhagen, Denmark, in the confrontation that took place between them on Tuesday evening, at “Parken Stadium”, in the fourth round of Group G of the Champions League group stage for the current season 2023.
Guardiola said in his statements after the match: “I do not understand what are the laws of handball in football,” adding, “Now we have to go to Dortmund to win and secure the lead.”
Guardiola added: “Many players did not play today because of fatigue, Phil Foden had some problems, and Bernardo told us yesterday that he was very tired.”
On the reason why Halland was excluded from participating in the meeting, Guardiola explained: “He finished the Southampton match and he is very, very tired and did not recover well in the past few days. Yesterday the situation was bad and today a little better, but we decided not to risk.”
The negative tie settled the exciting match, as Rodri scored the goal for Manchester City in the tenth minute of the start of the match, before the referee canceled it after returning to the video technology due to the presence of hand touch.
Algerian star Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty kick in the 25th minute of the match after the Danish Copenhagen goalkeeper excelled in stopping it.
Manchester City completed the match with ten players, after Spanish player Sergio Gomez was sent off in the 30th minute of the match after returning to the video technology.
