Guardiola: The Brentford match is difficult, and I wish Halland would be in the World Cup
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola stressed the difficulty of his team’s match against Brentford tomorrow, pointing to the strength of the opponent before the expected meeting of the two teams.
The Manchester City team will play its counterpart Brentford tomorrow, Saturday, in the meeting that brings the two teams together at the “Etihad” stadium, in the sixteenth round of the English Premier League competition for the current season 2022-2023.
Guardiola said during the match’s press conference: “The same coach, style and form has changed a little bit this season. I remember how hard it was to beat them, I don’t know what the minds of all the players would be. Early start, it’s always a little more complicated. We have to do our best.”
He added, “I would have liked Haaland to be in the World Cup, but he did not qualify. He will take advantage of the downtime to recover completely from his injury. He will be in Norway and will go to Mariba to recover with Riyad Mahrez. I hope he will return to training while he is fully ready.”
He continued: “I do not think of a disappointing result against Brentford, I am always positive, I cannot answer exactly what will happen but I am always positive, if the result is not positive, we will return, Brentford also wants to finish as best as possible before the first half.”
On facing Liverpool in the League Cup: “I do not know how many players I will have. There are Haaland, Mahrez, Gomez and Rio Luiz. The rest will go to the World Cup. If they pass the group stage, then the round of 16, then the quarter-finals and semi-finals, they need to rest.”
On his future, he commented: “I am not talking about it, everything is under control, I am committed to the club, but the most important thing is that we win tomorrow.”
Manchester City enters the meeting as it ranks second in the English Premier League with 32 points, two points behind Arsenal, the leader, while Brentford is in the eleventh place with 16 points.
