Guardiola: We still need 6 points to win the Premier League

Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City, played down the tone that his team was close to winning the English Premier League title, stressing that he still has two matches to play, and he must win during them in order to guarantee 6 points and win the competition.

Guardiola said during the West Ham press conference: “Two games left, every three points we win is very important, we still need six points to win the title, we have to get the three points and then try to get the last points at home, we just have to focus on ourselves”.

He added: “A team at the top, a difficult team, but we know how important it is to get three points, a great step to try to finish the job in our stadium with our fans.”

On facing West Ham: “They had two exceptional seasons, this season in the European League, they were unlucky in the second leg against Frankfurt with 10 players in the second leg, a great season, very strong in all positions, set-pieces, quality in the foreground.”

“I would say we will do well in the coming years, but I don’t know, things change in football very quickly.”

And he continued: “We need four points, or we need six points to be the champions of the league, I think everyone knows, winning against West Ham means that the work is often done.”

“It happens because the team starts well, but I don’t know why, that’s because they started to focus, our team the way we play, it’s very important that we can manage the pace and rhythm of the game.”
