Ibrahimovic reveals the secret behind his inability to harvest the Ballon d’Or

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that the reason he did not receive the award for the best player in the world throughout his career, saying that it is because they are looking for the “perfect master” that France Football was looking for in Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Swedish striker Ibrahimovic explained why he has not been a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or over the past years in comments to the German newspaper “Bild”: “If you talk and say what you think you can’t get, you can give it to a nice guy, it doesn’t change anything for me, nor It makes me better or worse.”

The man with 120 caps to his name never mentioned his accomplishments, and he was right in his opinion that he will take his place among the all-time greats when he hangs up his boots.

Ibra added: “I’ve always been curious about the Bundesliga, there is a team like Bayern Munich, it’s a great club.”

Ibrahimovic explained: “Every time I played against them, I always saw their facilities, the stadium, their organisation. The history of the club is impressive.”
The veteran striker, who is looking to help Milan chase their long-awaited Serie A glory in 2021-22, has never finished third in the Ballon d’Or vote, and his best result came in 2013 when he finished fourth.

Ronaldo won the final award on that occasion, setting the world on fire with Real Madrid, Messi taking the runner-up, and Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery in third place.
