The League’s statement was as follows:

In view of the statements made last night by the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, on the Chiringuito programme, La Liga would like to clarify the following:

1- La Liga did not pressure, at any time or in any way, the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, to urge him to join the La Liga broadcasting agreement.

2- At all times, what has been done is to meet the various information requirements that FC Barcelona requested from both LaLiga and the CVC.

3- Most of the League clubs, ie 38 out of 42 clubs, decided to join after analyzing the agreement individually and independently, with the support of their legal advisors.

4- Finally, we regret that Florentino Pérez, once again, questions the ability and independence of decision-making for the rest of the presidents and directors of La Liga clubs.
