Van Dijk: The season is still long… and Leicester deserved to win

Leicester City beat Liverpool in the match that was held at King Power Stadium in the 20th round of the English Premier League.

“I think they deserved to win, but that was disappointing for us,” Van Dijk told reporters after the match.

He continued, “They didn’t create many chances, but they were dangerous. We have to look at ourselves and improve and that’s what we’ll do because that’s part of football.”

“We will keep trying until the end, we created some good chances, but unfortunately today was not the day the ball hit the net, and we missed a penalty. This happens sometimes but it’s frustrating.”

“Of course we don’t want to concede goals at all, we let Lookman go in the space and unfortunately he scored a goal, we had some bad moments but we created some chances to try to improve.”

He stressed, “We are in December, this season is very long and anything can happen, I have seen what happened because of Covid and injuries, a lot of things can change.”

“We should not look at Manchester City or Chelsea or any other team, we should only look at our performance today and develop it, we all want to perform better, we were not good enough today and they deserved to win.”

The win raised Leicester City’s balance to the 25th point in ninth place, while Liverpool’s balance stopped at the 41st point in second place, six points behind Manchester City, the leader.
