Norwich City, on the other hand, racked up consecutive 1-0 victories over Charlton Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers to reach the FA Cup fifth round but the Canary Islands have struggled otherwise, winning just one of their last six games in all competitions while losing in their previous three competitions.

Liverpool and Norwich City have already met three times in the 2021/22 season with the Reds winning all three matches twice in the Premier League and once in the Carabao Cup and before the last meeting between the two sides.

Team news and expected plans
Liverpool

Klopp does not face any new fitness issues hampering his preparations ahead of Norwich City’s visit, and the Liverpool coach will deny the services of the first-team player on Wednesday.

Thiago Alcantara is the latest player to miss after sustaining a hamstring injury in preparation for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea last weekend and the only other player who is certain to miss is Roberto Firmino, who is on a muscle injury treatment programme.

Goalkeeper Keelherr is a Liverpool keeper after his feats in the Carabao Cup final which helped him later win praise from Jurgen Klopp in front of the Irish goalkeeper The Reds will feature in their regular 4-3-3 squad and it is likely that Klopp will incorporate the changes.

Ibrahima Konate should integrate Gomez’s presence at the heart of Liverpool’s defense as Conor Bradley and Costas Tsimikas start as front-backs and in midfield James Milner will get a rare start as the veteran midfielder sits at the base

Elliott and Curtis Jones will provide defensive support for Milner although the duo will be primarily tasked with pushing Liverpool forward.

Finally, Diogo Jota, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino are expected to form the attacking force, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane on the bench to get some rest and Luis Diaz is likely to be an option off the Liverpool bench.

Expected lineup 4-3-3:

Kelleher / Bradley / Konate / Gomez / Tsimikas / Elliot / Milner / Jones / Jota / Origi / Minamino

Norwich City

Unlike his counterpart at Liverpool, Dean Smith has a new existing problem to deal with ahead of the trip to Anfield and the Norwich City boss is likely to be without six first-team players on Wednesday.

The only positive news is the return of Jacob Sorensen who should be fit enough to ignore a knee injury to be available.

But former Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak is one of four players who have missed out due to a fitness issue, with Brandon Williams also likely to be a knockout, Andrew Aumobamidel at the back, Max Aarons with a muscle injury and Adam Idah with a knee injury.

The big blow comes in the absence of Grant Hanley, with the Norwich City captain suspended, and instead of Hanley, Christoph Zimmermann will join Ben Gibson in the heart of Norwich’s defense against Liverpool, with Sam Byram and Demetris Giannulis as full backs.

Up front in midfield will be the burden on Billy Gilmore and Pierre Les Mello to keep things tight The duo will line up alongside Kenny McClain in a midfield trio as the latter looks to provide a push forward when the opportunity presents itself.

Finally, the attacking trio must be clinical on Wednesday for Liverpool’s pressure and so the onus will be on Timo Pukki, Josh Sargent and Milot Rashica to be at their best in and around the Liverpool box to somehow clinch a surprise FA Cup fifth-round victory.

Expected lineup 4-3-3:

Gunn / Byram / Zimmerman / Gibson / Giannullis / Maclean / Gilmore / Les Mello / Sargent / Bucky / Rashika
