A new trilogy.. Liverpool loses to Wolverhampton
Liverpool failed to win the fourth consecutive match in the league by suffering a new defeat against Wolverhampton, and Wolverhampton defeated Liverpool with three free goals at the first stadium in the 22nd round of the English Premier League.
Liverpool conceded three goals during their last three Premier League defeats and tied them in a goalless match against Chelsea.
Wolverhampton’s goals in the match were scored by Craig Dawson and Ruben Neves, while Joel Matip scored the third by mistake.
The victory raised Wolverhampton’s balance to the 20th point in the 15th place, while Liverpool’s balance stopped to the 29th point in the tenth place, and this match was the 200th for Mohamed Salah in the English Premier League.
Liverpool started the match with an attacking trio consisting of Mohamed Salah, Cody Jakobo, and Darwin Nunez, who returned to the starting lineup.
Wolverhampton quickly advanced in the sixth minute through Matip by mistake in his team’s goal, and in the 12th minute Craig Dawson added the second goal by following up a shot that was saved by Alisson.
Salah tried to score a goal to reduce the difference in the 19th minute, but his shot went over the goal, and Alison Becker, Liverpool goalkeeper, saved his team from receiving the third goal alone from Matthews Nunes.
In the second half, Naby Keita almost scored with a shot from inside the penalty area, but his ball was cleared from the goal line.
Salah missed a dangerous opportunity in front of the goal after a pass from Naby Keita, but he shot over the goal, and Salah hit again, but his ball passed by the goal in the 62nd minute.
Ruben Neves concluded Wolverhampton’s hat-trick in the 71st minute, after a counterattack that ended with a pass from Adama Traore inside the penalty area towards Neves, who fired into the net.
Liverpool tried to create more than one opportunity to score one goal to reduce the difference through Nunez and Salah, but no ball reached the net.
Liverpool will play their next match against Everton at Anfield next February 13, while Wolverhampton will be a guest on Southampton.
