Riyad Mahrez will miss Algeria’s clash with Uganda and Tanzania in the African Nations Qualifiers

Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez will miss the Algeria national team matches against Uganda and Tanzania, due to injury, in the start of the qualifiers for the 2023 African Nations Cup, next June.

Today, Thursday, the Algerian Football Association confirmed that it had received a medical report from Manchester City, indicating that Mahrez is unable to participate in the matches against Uganda and Tanzania in the 2023 African Nations qualifiers, which will be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire in the summer of next year.

Mahrez had recently won the English Premier League title this season 2021-2022, with his team Manchester City for the eighth time in the club’s history, after a strong competition with Liverpool until the last round.

The team of desert warriors will host its counterpart Uganda in Algeria on 4 June, to be a guest of its Tanzanian counterpart on the 8th of the same month.

The Algerian national team is in the qualifiers for the African Nations 2023, in the group F competitions, along with the teams of Niger, Uganda and Tanzania.

The Algerian team failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, despite a 2-2 draw with its Cameroonian counterpart in the total of the two legs, as the latter benefited from the advantage of scoring more away from home.
