Manchester City crowned the Premier League title at the Etihad Stadium

 

Manchester City received the English Premier League Cup in a huge celebration held this evening, Sunday, at Al-Ittihad Stadium, after beating Aston Villa 3-2 in the match that was held between them in the final round of the Premier League for the current season 2021-2022.

The goals of the match were scored by Ilkay Gundogan (two goals) and Rodrigo Hernandez in the 67th, 78th and 81st minutes, respectively.

With this result, Manchester City won the English Premier League title with 93 points, from winning in 29 matches, drawing in 6, losing 3 matches, scoring 99 goals and receiving 26.

While Aston Villa came in the 14th place in the English Premier League standings with 45 points collected from winning 13 matches, drawing 6, losing 19 matches, scoring 52 goals and conceding 54.

And according to the “Opta” global network specialized in global football statistics and figures, Manchester City found itself behind in the first half in consecutive matches in the English Premier League for the first time since November 2019.

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola insisted on winning the English Premier League title, in order to compensate for the great failure suffered by the team by losing 3 titles, namely the European Champions League by a bitter exit against Real Madrid from the 8th round, in addition to the League Cup and the Federation Cup.

City coach Pep Guardiola also received a strong boost with the return of John Stones and Kyle Walker to the city’s training before the fateful match against Aston Villa, after they recovered from injury, which is a strong boost on the defensive side.

And Pep Guardiola, the coach of Man City, had ruled out Walker and Stones until the end of the current season, after the injuries they suffered in the last stage, as Stones had not played since the Champions League semi-final first leg with Real Madrid, while Walker since the second leg.
