Manchester Police say Greenwood will remain in prison until Thursday for assaulting his girlfriend

Manchester Police issued a statement today, Tuesday evening, regarding the English star, Mason Greenwood, the Manchester United player, confirming that the investigations will continue for a period that began yesterday and will continue for 96 hours, which means that he will not be released before next Thursday.

This is to give investigators more time to obtain his statement in the accusations of sexual assault and battery against his girlfriend Harriet Robson.

After she published many photos on her account on “Instagram”, she claimed to show the effects of the physical abuse she was subjected to, including severe bleeding in her lip and several bruises on her face and body, which she was subjected to at the hands of the Red Devils star.

Yesterday, the judges allowed the investigators to continue questioning Greenwood, but matters need more time, as he will remain, according to the official statement, until tomorrow evening, Wednesday.

Greenwood has been in Manchester Police custody two days after his arrest over the repercussions of the assault on his girlfriend.

The company responsible for the FIFA game announced that it had raised the name of the player and a number of other games against the background of the accusations he is being subjected to during the current period.

This comes at a time when the American clothing company sponsoring the player has suspended any contracts, stressing in a statement that it is closely following the case, especially with regard to the assault on his girlfriend.

In a statement yesterday, Manchester Police confirmed that they had arrested a young man in his twenties who is currently under investigation into the accusations leveled against him by his British girlfriend.

Greenwood’s friend posted a video, on the social networking site “Instagram”, in which she condemned the player for being raped and violent, saying: “For everyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood did.”

This comes at a time when Manchester United decided to exclude the player from the team’s group training a few hours before his arrest, in compliance with the accusations facing the player.

A Manchester United statement read: “We are aware of the images and allegations circulating on social media.”

And United’s statement concluded: “We will not have any further comment on the matter until the facts are established. Manchester United will not transgress and condone violence in any form.”
