Messi and Ronaldo save the face of Spanish and Italian football in the best

Argentine duo Lionel Messi, French player of Paris Saint-Germain, and Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo saved the face of Spanish and Italian football, respectively, in the award for the best player in the world presented by the International Football Association “FIFA”, after any player from the two competitions was absent from the announced list.

And the International Football Association indicated in the official statement of the candidates that Cristiano Ronaldo was nominated as a former player in Juventus, which he played for in the same year last year before moving to Manchester United.

The same applies to Lionel Messi, who played for French club Paris Saint-Germain after his historic move from Barcelona.

The Best award was launched in 2016, presented by FIFA for the best player in the world, after its separation from the French magazine “France Football”, which awards the Golden Ball award.

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo was crowned the best player in the world from FIFA in the first two editions in its current form in 2016 and 2017.

Croatian Luka Modric won the award in 2018, before Argentine star Lionel Messi won the award in 2019.

Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski was crowned the best player in the world for 2020, beating Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

And the International Football Association (FIFA) announced today, Tuesday, that the “The Best” awards ceremony will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022, in Zurich (Switzerland), while voting will start from Monday, November 22, and will end on Friday, December 10, 2021.
