Messi may finish his professional career at Inter Miami

Jorge Mas, a co-owner of the American club Inter Miami, suggested that Barcelona legend Leo Messi may finish his professional career at Inter Miami. It would be part of a new ten-year contract between the Argentine and his Spanish club.

Jorge Mas said to Miami Herald, “I am optimistic that Messi will one day wear the Miami shirt. He will continue the legacy of the best player of our generation and match Inter Miami’s ambition to build a world-class team.”

He confirmed that he and the former English player and co-owner of the club, David Beckham, “worked hard” on this issue.

According to the same newspaper, Mas and Beckham had “serious discussions” with Messi about this project.

According to Spanish media, the new contract binds him for two more seasons with Barcelona until the end of the 2022-2023 season. Messi then spends two seasons in Miami to finish his professional career there. Then he returns to Catalonia for six years to become a “global ambassador” for Barcelona.

In fact, Leo Messi’s current contract with Barca expires at the end of June. This has reinforced hypotheses and rumors about the future of the 33-year-old. Meanwhile, his name was associated with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, especially to play alongside Neymar.

However, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner said last December that he hopes to play in the MLS one day.

“I’ve always had the dream of playing in another league, in the United States. Maybe it will happen,” he explained to Sixta.
