Liverpool swept its Scottish counterpart Glasgow Rangers 7-1 in the match that took place between them on Wednesday evening at the “Ibrox” stadium in the fourth round of the Champions League for the current season 2022-2023.


The goals of the match came through Roberto Firmino (two goals), Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah (hat-trick), Harvey Elliott in the 24, 55, 66, 75, 80, 82, 87 minutes, respectively.

While Rangers are in the fourth and last place in the Champions League with zero points, after losing in the four rounds, scoring one goal and receiving 16.


Liverpool need only one point to qualify for the next round of the Champions League from their next matches against Napoli and Ajax Amsterdam.


Injuries hit the Liverpool team heavily before the match, as Colombian Luis Diaz injured his knee and confirmed his absence until the end of next December, in addition to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who also suffered an injury in the last game for the Reds against Arsenal, in which the first suffered a defeat in the English Premier League.


Liverpool began its campaign this season in the Champions League with a heavy loss away to Napoli, Italy, 4-1, before regaining confidence in the second round and beating Ajax of the Netherlands 2-1, and Rangers with two clean goals.


The first group includes, in addition to Liverpool, Italy, Napoli, Ajax Amsterdam and Rangers of Scotland.


Liverpool had lost the final of the last edition of the Champions League 2021-2022 against Real Madrid, 1-0, in the match that was held at the Stade de France in the French capital, Paris.
