The Netherlands national team won a valuable victory over its host Latvia, with a goal free of charge, in the match between the two teams at the Daugava Stadium, as part of the seventh round of Group G of the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

The game’s only goal was scored by Davi Claassen in the 19th minute with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area.

Clasen contributed 7 goals in 6 matches with the Netherlands national team so far in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers (4 goals, 3 assists).

In the same group, Turkey drew 1-1 with its guest, Norway, and Montenegro defeated Gibraltar by three.

With this result, the Netherlands strengthens the top of Group G with 16 points, two points behind the runner-up Norway, and Turkey in third place with 12 points, while Latvia is in fifth and penultimate place with 5 points.
