Kylian Mbappe: The Champions League was a goal for us, but we failed and the season is not over yet
Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe expressed his disappointment at the loss against Real Madrid and his exit from the round of 16 of the European Champions League, noting that the season is not over yet, thanking all the fans who supported the team during the tournament.
Mbappe wrote on his Instagram account: “A difficult time, the Champions League was a big goal for us, but we failed. The season is not over yet. Whatever happens, we will remain united and determined until the last game of the season. Thank you to all the fans who support us, concluding here, Paris.”
The Spanish team Real Madrid achieved a historic remontada at the expense of the French Paris Saint-Germain after beating it 3-1 during the summit that brought the two teams together yesterday evening, Wednesday, at the “Santiago Bernabeu” in the top of the second leg of the 16th round of the Champions League competition.
Young star Kylian Mbappe advanced to Paris Saint-Germain in the 39th minute through a single goal, to hit it brilliantly against Real Madrid, and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois failed to stop it.
In the second half, Real Madrid returned to the match through a hat-trick of French star Karim Benzema in the 61st, 76th and 78th minutes, respectively, so that the result of the return match became 3-1.
In the aggregate of the two matches, Real Madrid won 3-2 and the royal team qualified for the quarter-finals, thanks to the historic hat-trick scored by Benzema.
