Pellegrini after the defeat against Leverkusen: We were neither good defensively nor offensively

Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini admitted after his team’s 4-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen, that the opponent was “a superior” to his team, which “was not good defensively or offensively”.

The match was held on Thursday evening in the group stage competitions of the European League and kept Betis in the second place in Group G behind Leverkusen by three points.

This defeat comes a few days after the team lost 3-white to Atletico Madrid last Sunday in the Spanish Football League.

Pellegrini commented on these two consecutive defeats, saying that his team had played “two very bad matches”.

He pointed out that this matter should push them to “self-criticism and assess what happened” to try to “change the dynamic of playing next Sunday” in the derby battle against Seville in the thirteenth round of the League.

The Chilean coach admitted that his team’s performance “regressed”, so he relied on “analyzing the matter to find out the reasons” behind this.
