Pochettino’s future with Paris Saint-Germain

Pochettino’s future with Paris Saint-Germain created controversy. Several reports have confirmed the imminent departure of the Argentine coach.

This season, Mauricio had failed with the French capital club to win the French League title, Ligue A.

Instead, Lille won the title after topping the table with 83 points, ahead of runner-up PSG by only one point.

The Daily Mail had indicated that Tottenham Hotspur continues to consider the return of Pochettino to coach the team.

This was confirmed after club owner Daniel Levy confessed his desire to return Pochettino, who had left a big imprint with the Spurs.

Levy conducted a survey for the Tottenham players, to find out what they think of Pochettino’s return as coach. The Spurs owner found out they want their ex-coach to return.

In the same context, Pochettino’s name was associated with Real Madrid’s administration to succeed Zinedine Zidane, who left immediately after the end of the season.

The club resolves the controversy over Pochettino’s future with Paris Saint-Germain

“Mauricio Pochettino has two years on his contract with PSG, and we are very happy,” Leonardo said in a press statement via France Bleu.

About former coach Thomas Tuchel winning the Champions League with Chelsea, Leonardo responded with laughter.

“I was expecting the worst,” Leonardo said. “This is normal and present in football, and I am happy for him because he is a former PSG coach.”

He continued, “We have made a decision to separate from Tuchel and to continue working. I am also happy for Thiago Silva despite his injury in the final.”

“It is all possible in football,” he said. “We were very close last season as we reached the final match.”

Regarding this season, Leonardo said, “I think what we have done this season are very positive results. We reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, but in the league, we faced several problems at the beginning, such as a lot of injuries.”

He continued, “All this was in addition to other difficulties in the transfer market and the hiring of a new coach in the middle of the season.”

Leonardo was keen to confirm that Saint-Germain, under the leadership of Pochettino, presented strong performances against Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

He asserted that the French team lost to Manchester City, which has been working for 6 years with a great coach like Pep Guardiola.

He concluded, “We won the French Cup and the Super Cup. We also competed until the last round for the league title. Overall, I am very happy with what the team has done in the last two seasons.”
