English press reports revealed:

Manchester City have begun talks with Portuguese defender Ruben Diaz in order to offer him a new contract one year after joining City.

The British newspaper, The Sun, reported:

City plans to amend Ruben Diaz’s contract after the defender enjoyed an impressive first season with the English club.

Where he led City to regain the English Premier League title from Liverpool, in addition to receiving the award. The best player in the Premier League this season.

Diaz also led Manchester City to the Champions League final for the first time in its history before losing to Chelsea with a free goal.

The English newspaper stated:

Negotiations have already begun between City and Diaz regarding an increase in his current salary, which amounts to 90,000 pounds per week, which is one of the lowest salaries for the team, despite the value of the great technical defender.

The newspaper pointed out that City is seeking to increase Diaz’s salary and add another season to his current contract, which currently expires in the summer of 2026 to end in 2017.

Ruben Diaz joined Manchester City in the summer of 2020 from Benfica in a big deal, despite playing as a defender.

Where City paid the Portuguese club 68 million euros for his services, Robin Diaz participated in 50 games with Manchester City last season and scored one goal.
