Real Madrid begins the Champions League defense journey against Celtic

Real Madrid is a heavy guest against Celtic at Celtic Park, today, Tuesday, at nine in the evening, in the first round of Group F in the group stage of the 2022-2023 Champions League.

Real Madrid is seeking to win a big result against Celtic today in order to warn all competitors that it is coming strongly to defend its title, while the Scottish League champions hope to present a strong match against the Royal and win the three points or at least a draw point, taking advantage of the ground and the public.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti hopes to continue to dominate the continent of Europe in the current version, after he lifted the Champions League title last season for the fourteenth time in its history, after winning the final match over Liverpool with a goal without a response, late last May.

Real Madrid is the team that has won the most Champions League titles in history, 14 times, the last of which was last season, and the Royal is competing in Group F in the current version with Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic, respectively.

Ancelotti is counting on the big stars of the team, led by French Karim Benzema, in order to win the fifteenth Champions League title in the club’s history.

Benzema played a major role in winning the title of the last edition, to be his fifth with the team since his move to the ranks of Real Madrid in 2009 from Lyon, France. Germain, France, and another against Chelsea, in the playoff rounds of the last tournament.

Karim Benzema also occupies fourth place in the list of the top 10 scorers in the history of the Champions League, with a score of 86 goals, while Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who is absent from the current version, occupies first place with 140 goals.

Real Madrid has been providing great levels since the start of the current season, as it leads the Spanish league table with 12 points, after achieving the full mark by winning in 4 matches it has played so far.

It is noteworthy that the European Football Association “UEFA” chose Swiss Sandro Scherer as a referee for the match between Celtic and Real Madrid, in the opening of the group stage campaign in the Champions League, and this is the first time that the referee takes charge of a match for Real Madrid.
