Real Madrid faces Elche in the King’s Cup final

Real Madrid will visit Elche at eight in the evening, Thursday, at the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero, in the round of 16 of the King’s Cup.

Real Madrid beat Deportivo Alquiano 3-1 in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey, while Elche beat Almeria 2-1 in the same round.

Real Madrid returns to the King’s Cup again, with high spirits after winning the Spanish Super Cup title in Saudi Arabia, where it defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0 in the final at the King Fahd International Stadium.

Real Madrid is looking forward to continuing the victories and good results against Elche, a continuation of what it did in the Spanish Super, after beating Barcelona in the Clasico 3-2 and then snatching the title from Athletic Bilbao.

The Real Madrid team has the advantage in extracting the qualification for the King’s Cup quarter-final at the expense of Elche, but the royal will put all the precautions in order to avoid the surprise of the local competition.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti announced the absence of Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who suffers from a minor injury, in addition to Karim Benzema, with a technical decision to rest him physically.

Real Madrid also lost against Elche, Brazilian defender Militao, to suspension, and Dani Carvajal, Asensio and Vallejo to injury, while Welshman Gareth Bale returned to the list of the match today, after completing his recovery from injury and his physical readiness to participate again with the royal.

On facing Elche, Ancelotti commented, “The Elche match will be another final. We have to be ready, play a great match and win.”

The Italian coach added, “I always choose the best squad, I don’t know if it’s fair or not and there is a lot of competition.”
