Robertson: We fought Leipzig in difficult circumstances

Andy Robertson, a professional Liverpool player within his ranks, the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, confirmed that the Reds played a friendly match against Leipzig, Germany, in preparation for the start of the new season in difficult circumstances, adding that the team got used to this matter.

Liverpool swept its German counterpart Leipzig 5-0 in the friendly match that brought the two teams together on Thursday evening at the Red Bull Arena, as part of the two teams’ preparations for the new season 2022-2023.

“The conditions leading up to the match were very difficult for us, we traveled on the day of the match and did things we were not used to,” Robertson said in his statement to the official website of Liverpool FC. “There is always a match with difficult conditions in every preparatory period, but we are used to this.”

“Darwin Nunez topped the scene in the second half, and we’re happy with that. He opened his scoring and then added three more goals; not a bad record, right?! I hope to see him score more goals in the future.”

The Liverpool player continued, “The training before the start of the new season is very stressful, but it is important and we need it. This is the time to lay the foundations that we will follow throughout the season.”

“All I can think about is that we will be in a better position and ready by the end of next week. We are looking forward to the camp because it is a good opportunity for us to connect, integrate and prepare for the new season. It may not be fun, but it is definitely useful and important to us.”

Liverpool is preparing to play the Charity Shield against Manchester City on July 30, which will be held at King Power Stadium, the stronghold of Leicester City.

Liverpool will start the new season of the English Premier League by facing its host Fulham on August 6.
