The Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo, expressed his sadness for his country’s draw against Ireland, in the match that was held on Thursday evening.

Within the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, noting that getting a point is a gain, and we will confirm our qualification for the World Cup on Sunday against Serbia in the last round.

Ronaldo said on his Instagram account:

“It is always difficult to play in Ireland, but the point gained leaves all the goals at our mercy. On Sunday, at our stadium, in front of our fans and at home, we will seal our qualification for the World Cup in Qatar.”

Portugal and Ireland drew 0-0 in the match that brought them together on Thursday evening at Aviva Stadium in the Irish capital Dublin.

The matches of the ninth round of the first group of European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

Portugal dominated the game in the first half, but without much danger to the Ireland team.

In the second half, the result remained the same, and the Portuguese team was sent off against its veteran defender Pepe in the 81st minute of the match, after receiving a second yellow card.

In the same group, the Serbian team beat its Qatari counterpart 4-0, and Luxembourg beat Azerbaijan 3-1.

Portugal leads Group A with 17 points, ahead of Serbia, runner-up, with the same number of points.

Luxembourg is third with 9 points, Ireland with 6 points and finally Azerbaijan with one point.
