Saudi Arabia Fails to Collect any Points in its Olympics History
Saudi Arabia under-23 national football team is continuously wasting points in the Olympics. The team has not collected their first point in the history of their participation in the Olympic Games.
They lost 2-3 against Germany in the second round of Group D at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is the third time the Saudi Arabia national under-23 football team participates in the Olympic Games, falling in the same group as Brazil, Germany and Côte d’Ivoire.
They played their first match against Ivory Coast national football team, CAF Champions League runners-up, and lost 2-1.
They lost their second match 3-2 against Germany, failing to collect their first points in the Olympics, during their eighth match in a row.
Saudi Arabia U-23 participated for the first time in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, in a group that includes Brazil, Germany, and Morocco. They lost 3-1 against Brazil national football team, and then 1-0 against Morocco. They received a third defeat 6-0 against Germany, leaving the Olympic Games with zero points.
Again, Saudi Arabia national under-23 football team participated in Atlanta 1996 in Group B, along with France, Spain, and Australia. The team lost the three matches, failing to collect any points and leaving the Games in the first round.
Saudi Arabia U-23 still has a final Group D game against Brazil, on Wednesday at Saitama Stadium. It is the team’s last chance to gain their first points in the Olympic Games, or they will have to wait until Paris 2024, if they qualified for it.
