Saudi Clubs Lit the Summer Transfer Market

Saudi clubs started their summer contracts early. The most active was Al-Hilal. Meanwhile, the 2021 summer transfer market begins this year on June 27. It expires on August 31, 2021.

Al-Hilal Contracts

Al Hilal, the league champion in its last edition, announced the signing of the Portuguese coach, Leonardo Jardim, to take over the responsibility next season.

Before the start of the 2021 summer transfer window, Al Hilal’s management signed a new international star. He is Moussa Mariga, Porto ex-player, on a free transfer.

Mariga’s contract with the club extends for 3 seasons. He will receive a salary of 5 million euros per season. Also, he will receive 5 million once the contract is signed. Furthermore, the club contracted locally with Hamad Al Yami in the winter transfer market 2021. He will join as the clubs return to their preparations for the new season.

Al-Shabab Contracts

Meanwhile, Al-Shabab, the runner-up for the league, announced the team’s new coach. His mission will start next season, succeeding Carlos Hernandez. The club’s administration announced the signing of Pericles Shamuska for two seasons.

The club administration made several local deals for the new season. First, it contracted with Muhannad Asiri from Al-Ahly for one season. It also contracted with Hussein Shi’an for two seasons as a free transfer, after the player’s contract with Al Taawun Club ended.

In addition, there are two other players that Al Shabab signed last January in a free transfer deal to join the 2021 summer transfer market. They are Abdullah Al Jouei from Al Taawun Club, whose contract with the team expired this summer, and Nader Sharari from Abha.


Other Saudi Clubs

Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad did not made any new deal. However, Brazilian coach Fabio Carelli renewed the contract for another season. In addition, Karim Al-Ahmadi, captain of the team, renewed the contract as well.


Al-Nassr was the most dynamic in the summer transfer market. It succeeded in signing the Brazilian player, Talisca, after competing with Al-Hilal. The club signed him for 8 million euros. Talisca’s contract with Al-Nassr will extend for 3 seasons. His salary is 6.5 million euros per season. Also, Al-Nassr settled his contract with Cameroonian Vincent Abubakar, whose contract with Besiktas recently expired. The administration is continuing its strong reinforcements at the present time.


Meanwhile, Al-Ahly announced the signing of Albanian coach Bisnik Hasi, the former coach of Al-Raed, to take over the task of coaching Al-Ahly, succeeding Romanian coach Laurent Rijkamp.
