Senegal beats Ecuador and advances to the World Cup final

The Senegal national team qualified for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup, after defeating Ecuador 2-1 in the match that brought them together this evening at the “Khalifa International” stadium, in the third and final round of the first group of the World Cup.

In the 68th minute, Moises Caicedo scored the equalizing goal for Ecuador against Senegal, making the score 1-1 between the two sides.

World Cup 2022

In the 70th minute, Khalido Coulibaly succeeded in snatching the second goal for Senegal against Ecuador, with a follow-up from a cross by Idrissa Gay.

The result continued, with Senegal leading Ecuador 2-1, until the final whistle, with the Teranga Lions qualifying for the round of 16 for the second time in history, after crossing over to the same round in the 2002 World Cup.

With this result, the Senegal national team’s balance reaches point 6 in the runners-up of the first group ranking table in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, succeeding the Netherlands, who lead with 7 points and also qualified for the same round.

While the Ecuadorian national team deposited the tournament competitions after its score was frozen at point 4, in third place in the first group arrangement in the Qatar World Cup, and the Qatari team was at the bottom of the standings without a balance of points.
