Sergio Ramos Suffers a New Setback
Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has suffered another setback. This happened just days after he had started the match, in which The Meringues lost 2-0 to Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.
The captain, who came back from injury and started in the match against Chelsea, did not train on Saturday in preparation for the Sevilla match.
Real Madrid announced, in an official statement, the injury of their captain.
The club said the medical services team had tested Ramos.
And the team reported that the Real Madrid captain had been diagnosed with tendinitis in the semimembranosus muscle of his left hamstring.
The announcement of Sergio’s injury comes with four matches remaining before the end of the Spanish League.
The truth is, the Real Madrid captain has yet to renew his contract. However, there are clear messages that it may be the end of a period that changed Madrid’s history.
This new injury is the third injury for Sergio Ramos so far in 2021.
The problems started before the Athletic Bilbao match in the Spanish Super Cup.
At the time, the captain played in Malaga while hiding his injury. Then, he went to the operating room to solve the inconveniences.
After that, Sergio focused on recovering in order to make a comeback on the day of the Champions League match against Atlanta.
Ramos returned in the Real Madrid match against Elche on March 13th, when he played for an hour.
On 16 March, he also participated against Atalanta to place Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
Later, it turned out that he will not be playing against Celta Vigo. This was before joining the Spanish national team, as everything got complicated there.
Spain’s captain played 45 minutes against Greece at a very low level.
Then, he did not play against Georgia in the following match. And finally, he appeared for only five minutes against Kosovo.
After the Kosovo match, Sergio got into exercises and training, and there was the injury. It was March 31st.
Since then, the captain has missed Real Madrid’s matches in both the Champions League and the Spanish League.
In fact, Ramos’s contract with Real Madrid expires in June.
And it appears that renewal negotiations between the player and the club have reached a dead end. Thus, the captain prepares to pack his bags to leave La Casa Blanca.
