Seville coach: Manchester City is a strong opponent and Guardiola is the best in the world
Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui spoke about his team’s latest preparations to face Manchester City at the start of its Champions League campaign.
Seville will host Manchester City tomorrow, Tuesday, at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, in the first round of the group stage of the Champions League.
Lopetegui said during the match’s introductory press conference, “We enter the match with great hopes. It is a tournament in which we have the right to participate for the third consecutive season. We will face a strong opponent in the strongest club tournament. We are here because we deserve and want to enjoy a beautiful match.”
The Sevilla coach added, “We will face an opponent at a high level, it is one of the best teams in the world, and with Haaland they are more integrated, but if we start talking about Manchester City we will not finish, we will focus on ourselves and on playing a good game and on what we can do well.”
Regarding the injured, the Seville coach said, “Fernando and Lamela did not train. We will wait until tomorrow to see if they are able to participate. They made a tremendous effort in Saturday’s match against Barcelona. The same applies to Karim Rakik, who has just recovered.”
Lopetegui continued, “For me, Guardiola is the best coach in the world. It is difficult to determine the best or the worst, but Guardiola is the best in my view. The world of football is very complex and Guardiola was distinguished by continuity and always development in all the teams he managed.”
And he concluded his statements: “It is easier to lead a winning team, but with a loss we also proved that we are strong. Given the circumstances, the team showed its ability to develop if they were ousted.
