Chelsea star Thiago Silva is the best player in the Club World Cup

Veteran Brazilian footballer, Thiago Silva, won the award for the best player in the FIFA Club World Cup, after his team won the tournament title.

The English team Chelsea defeated its Brazilian counterpart Palmeiras, 2-1, during the match that brought the two teams together this evening, Saturday, at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Al Jazira Club, in the final of the Club World Cup, to crown the Blues with the title for the first time in its history.

After the match, Silva received the award for the best player in the tournament, and Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta received the Fair Play award that Chelsea won.

Chelsea vs Palmeiras

Chelsea’s first goal came through Romelu Lukaku in the 55th minute from a header, while Palmeiras tied in the 64th minute through Rafael Vega from a penalty kick.

After the tie, the two teams played for two additional periods, and 3 minutes before the end, Kai Havertz, the young Chelsea star, scored the second goal in the 117th minute from a penalty kick.

Chelsea had participated in the Club World Cup in 2012, and qualified for the final match, but lost the title to the Brazilian team Corinthians after losing to it 0-1, to be the first time in its history.

The Brazilian club Palmeiras, the South American champion, started its campaign from the semi-finals of the Club World Cup, where it defeated Al-Ahly with two clean goals.

While Chelsea, the Champions League champion, led by the Belgian Lukaku, opened his campaign in the Club World Cup, by defeating Al Hilal, the champion of the Asian Champions League, with a clean goal in the same role.
