Spain summon Reguilon to replace Gaia in the World Cup qualifiers

Spain coach Luis Enrique has called up Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon to replace Jose Gaya, the Valencia star, at the Al Matdor international camp.

Valencia’s Jose Gaya suffered a severe injury in the Spain-Georgia match, which was held yesterday evening, Sunday, and ended with a 4-0 victory for La Roja.

Immediately, Tottenham’s back Sergio Reguilon arrived at the Spain camp to replace Gaya against Kosovo in the sixth round of European qualifying for the 2022 World Cup on Wednesday.

Spain beat its guest, Georgia, 4-0, in the match that brought the two teams together, on Sunday evening.

In the second half, Pablo Sarabia, newly signed for Sporting Lisbon, scored the fourth goal for the Spanish national team in the 63rd minute.

With this result, Spain regains the top spot in Group B with 12 points, one point ahead of runner-up Sweden, who played two fewer games.

He did not play in this round, while the Georgia team is in the fifth and last place with one point.
