Suker sacked from the Croatian Football Association and Man United canceled his match

The dismissal of the historic striker Suker from the presidency of the Croatian Federation:

The Croatian Football Association announced today, Thursday, the dismissal of its president and historical striker Davor Suker from his post and the appointment of the only candidate, Marian Kostic, as its CEO, as his successor.

Suker was dismissed before his term expires next December, at the initiative of the Executive Committee of the local federation, which called for early elections earlier this year.

“I am happy that I was part of the greatest successes in Croatian football as a player and as president of the Croatian Football Federation,” Suker, who has been in office since 2012, said in media statements.

Davor Suker, the Spanish star of Real Madrid and the former Croatian national team, scored many great goals in his career with the royal team, which lasted for three seasons, in which he played 109 games and scored 49 goals, during which he won four titles: the European Champions League (1), the Intercontinental Cup ( 1), the League (1) and the Spanish Super Cup (1).

Suker succeeded in leading his country to achieve the runner-up of the last World Cup 2018, which was held in Russia, after losing the final against France, in the best achievement for the team, unlike his achievements with his country as a player

Manchester United cancel Preston friendly due to suspected Corona cases :

The English club, Manchester United, announced today, Thursday, the cancellation of the friendly match against Preston North End, which was scheduled to be held, the day after tomorrow, Saturday, at the latter’s stadium, as part of preparations for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.

And United revealed, through a statement on its official website, that the reason for the cancellation was due to the presence of some suspected positive cases of the Corona virus, after the routine testing of the team’s training group today.

A United statement read: “Maintaining security from Covid-19 is a priority for Manchester United, after the routine testing of the first team coaching group today, they have found a small number of suspected positive cases, and this has led to these people being isolated pending further tests.”

He continued: “As a precautionary measure based on Covid-19 protocols, we have made the difficult decision that we will now not be able to play the friendly match against Preston North End on Saturday. We regret the disruption that has occurred at Preston North End and the disappointment we have caused the fans.”

The statement concluded: “Any Manchester United fan who purchases game tickets will be automatically refunded. At this point we do not expect further disruptions around our upcoming matches, but we will continue to follow Premier League protocols in this regard.”

Yesterday, Wednesday, Manchester United drew 2-2 against its guest, Brentford, which was held at Old Trafford, as part of the two teams’ preparations for the 2021-2022 new season.

Manchester United beat Derby County 2-1 in their first pre-season friendly, before losing in the second friendly against Queens Park Rangers by four goals to two, in the friendly match they gathered last Saturday, at the “Cayan Prince” stadium.

Manchester United will open the 2021-2022 English Premier League season against Leeds United on August 14 at Old Trafford.
