Ten Hag: I haven’t spoken to Ronaldo since he announced his departure and his contract can be extended until 2024

Manchester United manager Eric Tin Hag confirmed that he has not communicated with Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo since he announced his desire to leave the team during the current summer transfer period and his absence for more than three weeks from the training during which the Red Devils were preparing for the next season 2022-2023. .

“He’s training, I think we all know Ronaldo is a great professional and he will be fit, and that’s the last thing that worries me,” Ten Hag said in comments highlighted by the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.

Despite Ronaldo’s absence, Ten Hag suggested building a squad around the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and supporting it to deal with United’s style next season, saying: “I think Cristiano can do it, he’s shown everything in his career.”

The Manchester United coach continued: “I have specified my request. We want to play a certain way, a great player can contribute and Ronaldo is the best player in our team.”

Tin Hag added: “The players are the ones who determine your playing style, especially the ones who score goals because they are very important to the team, you build your team around them.”

Ten Hag made it clear that an option to extend Ronaldo’s £500,000-a-week contract with United could be activated to keep him at the club until 2024.

“I’m well-versed, and he also has a choice, doesn’t he? So, yes Ronaldo can extend his stay,” said Ten Hag.
