The Champions League draw prevents fans from facing Messi against Ronaldo

It is expected that the draw for the Champions League 2021-2022 will deprive the world football fans of seeing the dream confrontation between the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Argentine legend Lionel Messi, the new French player of Paris Saint-Germain, will not face his Portuguese counterpart, Cristiano Ronaldo, the current Juventus star, in the group stage of the European Championship this season.

It also happened last season due to the classification of the teams before the Champions League draw.

Putting the classification of the teams in the draw for the Champions League 2021-2022, which will be held next Thursday in Istanbul, Turkey.

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are in the second classification, which means that they will not be. They meet in tournament groups.

This came after Juventus finished fourth in the Italian league standings last season, while Paris Saint-Germain ranked second in the French league behind the champion Lille.

The second classification of the Champions League draw this season includes a group of the best teams in the world, such as Liverpool and Manchester United from England, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Seville from Spain and Borussia Dortmund, Germany, along with Messi and Ronaldo’s companions.

Messi and Ronaldo met for the first time in their history in the Champions League groups last season.

Messi was still a player in Barcelona and led his team to a 2-0 victory in the first leg in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring his team’s second goal against Juventus from a penalty kick.

But the confrontation took place in the second leg, and Cristiano Ronaldo responded, despite the presence of Lionel Messi, by scoring two goals from two penalties as well, which gave Juventus a 3-0 victory and tops the group.

The two stars had previously met in the Champions League when Messi was at Barcelona and Ronaldo was at Manchester United.

Where they met for the first time twice in the semi-finals of 2008 and drew 0-0 and United won 1-0 and then they met again in 2009 in the final and Barcelona won 2-0, where Messi scored the second goal at that time.

Then they played in the El Clasico that brought Barcelona and Real Madrid together in the 2011 Champions League semi-finals.

Barcelona won 2-0 with Messi’s double at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg, then the second meeting ended with a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou to qualify Barcelona for the final.
