The Qatari Al Sadd Stadium Saves the Saudi Al-Nasr club

According to press reports, the Saudi Al-Nasr club chose the Qatari Al Sadd stadium as a neutral stadium, to face the Iranian team Tractor.

Al-Nasr is anticipating a response from the Asian Football Confederation. It will not accept their demands to play at Marsool Park stadium in Riyadh.

Al-Nasr will meet the Iranian club in the round of 16 matches of the AFC Champions League.

On June 24, the Federation announced that the Al-Nasr and Tractor matches. In addition to Al-Hilal and Al-Istiqlal, would be played in two neutral stadiums.

The last deadline to determine the stadium was last Wednesday. But, the Al-Nasr administration rejected the Asian decision. And stuck to its demands to play the match at Mrsoul Park stadium.

The administration of the Saudi club explained that the team was at the top of the fourth group of the AFC Champions League.

Moreover, they sent a letter two weeks ago to the Asian Confederation. Expressing their commitment to playing at their stadium.

On the other hand, experts believe that Al-Nasr will be threatened with a fine of ten thousand dollars. In the event that they do not choose a neutral stadium to host the match against Tractor.

The matches of the Round of 16 for Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr will take place on the 13th of next September.

In the past years, following the political differences between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The AFC agreed to hold matches for both teams on neutral stadiums.

However, while the Iranian clubs agreed to play the group stage matches in the Champions League in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi side rejected.

As a result of these tensions, Iranian clubs announced their refusal to play any match in Saudi Arabia. And, they demanded reciprocity, either to play their matches in Iran ordinarily or to choose neutral stadiums.

Still, the Qatari Al Sadd Stadium might be a solution.
