Werner officially misses Germany’s World Cup in Qatar due to injury

 

RB Leipzig announced today, Thursday, the absence of striker Timo Werner from the German national team, during the 2022 World Cup, which will be hosted by Qatar from November 20 to December 18, due to injury.

Werner was injured during the match against Leipzig yesterday, Wednesday, with its host, Shakhtar of Ukraine, in the last round of the group stage of the Champions League, and he left the match stadium, after only 19 minutes.

 

And the German club issued a statement about his player’s injury, saying: “Timo Werner suffered an ankle injury last night in the victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, and today’s tests showed that he had unfortunately ruptured the syndromic ligament in his left ankle, and therefore he will be absent until the end of 2022.”

 

Leipzig succeeded in qualifying for the round of 16 of the European Champions League, as a runner-up for Group F with 12 points, behind Real Madrid, the leader with 13 points.

The German national team will compete in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with Spain, Costa Rica and Japan in Group F.
