Qatar News Agency stated, through its official website, that the Sports Partnership for Better Health, which includes the Ministry of Public Health, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the International Football Association “FIFA”, and the World Health Organization, announced the implementation of measures to prevent tobacco and smoking in the 2022 World Cup Qatar to be the tournament. healthy and safe.
In this context, the agency added that tobacco and electronic cigarettes will be banned in the eight stadiums designated for the World Cup, ensuring that fans can enjoy watching the world’s largest football event in a smoke-free atmosphere while sitting in their seats.
The agency continued, “FIFA’s policy on tobacco is in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization on mega sporting events, which aim to protect the right of people to breathe clean air that is not polluted by carcinogens and other harmful substances.”
The 2022 World Cup is scheduled to start with the opening match between the Qatari national team and its Ecuadorean counterpart on Sunday, November 20, at the “Al-Bayt” stadium.
