Xavi’s comments after Barcelona’s defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League
After Barcelona’s defeat for the second time in a row by the same opponent, Bayern Munich, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandi expressed his sadness at that heavy defeat with a clean score of three today, Wednesday, in the 5th round of the group stage of the Champions League in the stronghold of the Camp Nou.
Xavi’s post-match comments
Xavi came out with newspaper statements through the Spanish newspaper Marca, saying: I thank all the fans for the great support that appeared today and have proven to encourage the team since my arrival and today the match was unusual, we are not lucky.
He added, “Bayern Munich definitely deserved to win because they were better than us and Barcelona can’t blame itself for anything. This is the reality at the moment. We are outside the Champions League and we will focus on all other competitions.”
The coach added: “We were not at our best with them, they are always the best, while in the previous match we were the best, but we lost, and this will certainly affect us. Tomorrow we will go to training and play in the League to compensate for this loss. There were great expectations for this team, but there is no comment.”
On the whistle, Busquets commented: “I have already said that we must unite and face the situation. We were eliminated from the Champions League, but the season does not end in October and there are many competitions we are fighting, it is a setback and we have to recover from it.”
He concluded: “The main thing is our mistakes, we were not at the level because of the lack of effectiveness and the many mistakes, and the way we leave the tournament is harsh, and we go with a bad feeling.”
With this victory, Bayern Munich raised its score to 15 points at the top of the group, which decided its qualification early, while Barcelona’s balance froze at 4 points in third place, which bid farewell to the competition and officially headed to the European League.
