Xavi: We compete strongly in La Liga…and seek to win the European League

Xavi Hernandez, coach of the Spanish team Barcelona, confirmed that he is seeking to win the European League title in the current season 2022-2023, after the Catalan team bid farewell to the Champions League competitions.

Xavi said in his statements to the official website of FC Barcelona, ”Yes, we want to win the Europa League, we want to win everything. We have a good and young team and we want to fight for everything,” adding, “It will be painful not to hear the anthem of the champions and something that frustrates us, but the European League will help us to the growth”.

The Barcelona coach added, “We missed things in the Champions League that we did not do against Inter in Milan. In La Liga, we compete very strongly. We want continuity, and our goal now is to win La Liga.”

Xavi continued his remarks, saying, “I think that as a team, we have improved a lot from last season, despite the bitterness of leaving the champions. I am optimistic about this season and we are able to win trophies.”

Xavi continued, saying, “We have great players. Barcelona has a present and a future. The contracts are also young, like Christensen and the rest. We have a future and a present for Barca.”

On the other hand, the Spanish Football Federation rejected the result of Barcelona’s appeal against the penalty for suspending its Polish star, Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski was suspended for 3 matches after he was expelled from the Catalan team’s meeting with its host Osasuna, in the 14th round of the Spanish League, which ended with Barca’s victory (2-1) because of his “contempt” for the referee, after the red card was shown in his face.

According to the Catalan newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, the Spanish Federation rejected Barcelona’s appeal, and the 3-match ban was confirmed.
